Are you using email marketing to its full potential? Or even using it at all?

Email marketing is a great way for you to contact the customers you already have on your database.

And because they’re already on your database, this means you know what their interests are.

Which makes it easier for you to give them more of what you know they will like.

If you’re not taking advantage of email marketing, here’s one big reason that you should be…

Email has an ROI of 3,800%, according to the Direct Marketing Association.

That means for every email you’re sending out, you’re increasing your chances of making sales!!!

It would be foolish not to take advantage, right?

But if that’s not enough to convince you, these 7 reasons might:


1. it’s cheap

As I mentioned before, email marketing allows you to target customers that are already on your database.

So there’s no costs involved in acquiring them…you’ve done the hard part!

The only cost incurred will be for your email software (and the time it takes to initially set up your emails).

But when you consider that 3,800% ROI, it really is a no-brainer!


2. It’s targeted 

You can see, or rather your email software can see, what your customers have bought.

And you can set up automated flows (see point 3) to send them targeted and relevant emails…

This is where segmentation comes in:

You can segment your email database depending on your customers’ interests, by what they’ve bought, or in a number of other ways.

So whether it’s a cross-sell email offering products that complement what they’ve already bought.

Or an email sending them to relevant content, based on what they’re interested in.

You can always make sure your customers are getting the most value from your emails!


3. It can be almost completely automated 

This means that you can do the bulk of the work right at the start.

You can set up flows that will automatically trigger when somebody purchases a particular item.

Let your email software do the rest…and watch those extra sales rolling in.

The only time you would need to go in and manually create emails is for newsletters, or when you’re planning on running a flash sale or other promotion.

(These are known as broadcast emails, and you should also be doing them on a fairly regular basis.)

Emails are a great way to get people visiting your store

Learn what works and what doesn’t work, using your email software’s analytics.

Most email software allows you to track open rates, click rates and conversion rate.

So you can easily gauge what type of subject line gets people to open your emails and what call to action gets them clicking through to your store and converting.

And you can just as easily make changes or improvements to any areas that you’re going wrong!

This is also a good time to point out the importance of split-testing your emails

You can test different variables within your email campaigns to see which gets a better response from a small selection of your customers.

And then send the most successful email variation out to the rest of your list!


7. You can personalise your emails

I don’t know about you, but I’m more inclined to read an email that directly addresses me at the start.

And you can do that so easily when you send out your emails!

Personalising your emails makes your customers feel valued, because you’re speaking directly to them…so that’s only going to improve your relationship.

Likewise, adding them to segmented lists (point 2) means they’ll be getting emails that are more relevant to them personally.

Ultimately, a better relationship will lead to repeat purchases!
